What To Expect From Addiction Rehab
Here at Rehab Recovery we are dedicated to helping you find the right rehabilitation centre to help you with your addiction, whatever problem you have.
Rehab centres are normally the safest and most effective way to make a full recovery and be able to start a healthy new life. The main thing to remember about rehabilitation is that it treats an entire person, not just their addiction.
This approach means that an addict is far more likely to stop engaging in their previous self-destructive behaviour, and also has the best possible chance to avoid relapsing. Once successful rehabilitation addiction treatment is complete, nearly all addicts will be able to live a healthy and happy normal life.
Most rehab treatment centres will offer a residential programme where the addict will need to live in the clinic for 20-30 days as an inpatient. Residential clients receive 24/7 care as well as continued access to a trained counselling team, doctors and mental health professionals.
One of the key advantages to residential rehab is that it gives clients a structured treatment regime tailored to each person’s needs. Common activities and individual treatments can include
- Individual and group addiction counselling
- Individual and group addiction psychotherapy
- Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
- Addiction family therapy and counselling
- 12 Steps work
- Nutritional support
- Relapse prevention techniques
- Complementary therapies (for example yoga, tai chi, acupuncture, meditation or reflexology)
- Fellowship meetings
Sometimes an addiction patient is unable or unwilling to commit to a residential treatment programme, which is why we can also refer you to comprehensive outpatient treatment clinics as an alternative.
For outpatient treatment, clients will attend the clinic during the daytime or evening for fixed appointments where they work through their treatment regime with professional assistance. This of course lasts longer than the residential style of rehab and will normally continue for anywhere between 30-90 days, depending on the progress the patient makes.
